I will start this post by saying: this is for the ladies. If you are a mom, this is for you. If you are a mom with girls, this is for you and your girls. If you are a teenage girl....Girl, this is for you. If you are a dad with girls, keep reading so you can pass this on to your girls.
Ladies, you are loved. We already know this. We are loved by our friends, our families, etc. But there are those days when we don't feel loved at all. There are those days when we don't feel beautiful. There are those days, girls, when we want to be loved so badly by a boy and to have that "perfect" boyfriend or relationship that it hurts. Girls, Jesus loves you. He loves you to the moon and back, he is absolutely crazy about you. You're all He thinks about and all He wants is you. How do I know this? Well, He tells us.
You’re so beautiful, my darling,
so beautiful, and your dove eyes are veiled
By your hair as it flows and shimmers,
like a flock of goats in the distance
streaming down a hillside in the sunshine.
Your smile is generous and full--
expressive and strong and clean.
Your lips are jewel red,
your mouth elegant and inviting,
your veiled cheeks soft and radiant.
The smooth, lithe lines of your neck
command notice—all heads turn in awe and admiration!
(Song of Solomon 4:1-4, The Message)
Say what?! When I first read this, I probably read it over and over and over. I still read it everyday. Its so crazy to think that Jesus feels this way about me! He feels this way about you too. Just wait... It gets even better!!
You’ve captured my heart, dear friend.
You looked at me, and I fell in love.
One look my way and I was hopelessly in love!
How beautiful your love, dear, dear friend--
far more pleasing than a fine, rare wine,
your fragrance more exotic than select spices.
(Song of Solomon 4:9-10, The Message)
WOW!!!!! Read that again!!! Jesus is hopelessly in love with you! Not only does Jesus think we are so beautiful but we are the apple of eye! Jesus only has eyes for us, ladies! Jesus also tells us how much we are worth to Him...
Don’t be afraid… I’ve called your name. You’re mine…
I paid a huge price for you… That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.
(Isaiah 43:1,4, The Message)
I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone who would be willing to sell off the whole world for me... Jesus is willing to do it for you! Do you see how desperate He is for you!! He loves you sooooo much and wants your undivided attention. This is a radical, passionate, and scandalous love. The love of Jesus is scandalous. Jesus also tells us:
You are altogether beautiful, my darling;
There is no flaw in you.
You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride;
You have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes.
(Song of Solomon 4:7,9, NIV)
Sweet girl, there is no flaw in you. Jesus made you.
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
(Psalm 139:13-16, NIV)
Out of all creation and all the valuable things on earth, YOU are the one thing He desires the most.
You are worth more than silver and you are far more valuable than gold.
You are more precious than rubies and nothing I could ever desire can compare with you.
(Proverbs 3:14-15, NIV)
He wants you. He sends the invitation for you to be with Him forever...
Don’t miss a word: forget your country, put your home behind you.
Be here- the King is wild for you. Since He’s your lord, adore Him.
(Psalm 45:10-11, The Message)
How amazing does that sound? The King is wild for you. He's crazy about you. And He's not just any King, He's your "Prince Charming"
Who is this coming from Edom,
from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson?
Who is this robed in splendor,
striding forward in the greatness of his strength?
"It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save."
(Isaiah 63:1, NIV)
Just let that picture sink in for a minute. His is robed in splendor and speaks in righteousness. Way cool. Still not convinced? Think of Jesus this way. He came to earth and spent his time with twelve men, preaching in synagogues, doing miracles, and telling everyone he came in contact with about him and his Father. He also came and died a horrible death on the cross but three days later he rose again. After he rose again, he spent forty days with those twelve people again and teaching and before he ascended into heaven he said: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, NIV) He wanted those twelve people to tell everyone about him, and then those people would tell others about Jesus and then they would tell even more people about Jesus, and the news about Jesus would spread all over the world throughout time. Why did he do all this? So that you would hear about his love for you and you would love him back. Now Jesus knew that people would make mistakes over time and things would be misunderstood so he had some things written down so that when you heard about him, you could have all 66 of the massive love letters that he wrote throughout time just for you. What do you say to that? That is crazy love!!
My heart has heard you say
"Come and talk with me."
And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming."
(Psalm 27:8, NLT)
Jesus, we are coming.
Be sure to read His Revolutionary Love: Jesus's Radical Pursuit of You by Lynn Cowell. A lot of these verses came from her book! It is an amazing read and definitely worth it!
I am currently a teacher and life-long student of Scripture learning more about life and Jesus's marvelous love and boundless grace.
