The Curse of the Crucifixion

I am cursed. We all are cursed. Every single one of us has a curse on us but not one of those witchy kind of curses that makes doors open and lamps fall randomly. We have a curse that ensures that we will spend all of eternity in an unquenchable fire. In Galatians 3:10-12 tells us why we are so deserving of this curse. "For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written 'Curse is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.' Clearly, no one who relies on the law is justified before God because, 'the righteous will live by faith.' The law is not based on faith; on the contrary it says 'The person who does these things will live by them.'"
To me, this can be confusing at times. But basically according to the Scriptures of the "Old Covenant" we are under the law that binds us. The law that has over 600 rules that were to be follow daily without fail. The curse itself comes from Deuteronomy 27:26 concerning what the Levites (the priests of the Israelites) where to say to the Israelites when they crossed over the Jordan River to remind them of the law of the Lord and amount of grace God has shown them. After each curse the people were to say "Amen!" which means "Let it be." Imagine the "holy people" of the time shouting to rest of their people "Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out!" And everyone else basically saying "Let it be!" to the curse. I don't know about you, but I don't follow those 600 laws. I can only tell you 10 of them off the top of my head. I don't even follow the the 10 most days. The curse for me is hopeless and I know that if I relied on the laws alone and my works alone, I am going to die forever. This curse was applied to everyone for thousands and thousands of years. Then Jesus came and changed it all.
Galatians continues: "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.' He redeemed us in order that the blessing given through Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit." (verses 13-14)  Christ humbled himself and became a man to become cursed. He took the curse of my sin, your sin, and the sin of the world. He took the curse of the crucifixion. He bore the shame of it all so I could receive the blessing. Praise You, Father! Because Jesus took on the curse of the law, we are no longer bound by the law but by His immeasurable grace! No longer slaves of the Old Covenant but slaves of Christ Jesus himself, the most merciful and just master of them all. Praise the one who took on my sin, my curse and my punishment! All honor and glory to You forever and ever. Amen.
